It is refreshing, tart but not puckering sour, drifting a bit toward Margaritaville with the lime and salt, but with the malt presence keeping it well within Beer Town. The body is moderate-thin and crisp with nice dancing on the tongue. The malts (wheat?) to provide a good backbone, keeping this beer well into "you're drinking a beer" territory (I make than comment with reference to fruit-punch-doesn't-taste-like-beer entries into the style). It is a natural lime flavor like fresh-squeezed limeade. The lime flavor is, of course, dominant throughout. Since then, Dogfish has earned a reputation for brewing off-centered beers for off-centered people. Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats opened in 1995 as the first brewpub in the First State.
The initial taste hits with the tart salty lime, which mellows into the middle, finishing with a very pleasant crisp tartness. Specialties: Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats is a brewpub & distillery that specializes in fresh, wood-grilled food, homemade beer and house-distilled spirits. The beer look is also hampered a bit by dark rather large floaties that settle to the bottom of the glass (I just poured, no attempt to decant). No head remnants at all after 15 minutes or so. The head recedes fairly quickly, leaving sparse lacing. The result is a fruit-forward libation with sweet mango and vanilla flavor on the front and a subtle, warm spice finish. Hazy amber-orange topped by a 1 inch white head, thick, fluffy, and creamy. Dogfish Head Mango Smoovie -Inspired by the fruit-based Indian drink lassi, Dogfish Head Mango Smoovie is a tart ale brewed with boatloads of mango and tangerine, lactose, vanilla, a touch of rose water and yellow cardamom.
